The Thief

Birdsong delights us as we carve our way through clearings of primrose and cowslip. As we walk, daydreaming, our leader lets out a cry.

There, among the grasses, lie the blanched remains of a human skeleton. Half-concealed by bushes, the corpse appears to have been hiding here. But most interesting are the man’s dead hands — for clutched between the boney fingers is a treasure of huge value.

Looking down at the scene, we are all seized by the same urge. Does a corpse truly need such a trinket? Would we not make better use of such a luxury?

What we won't know until later is that, to each of us, the treasure takes a different form.

The day wears on…

The Conundrum

The treasure is magical; it appears to all who hold it as an item of great personal value.

  • The travellers may not discuss.

  • Clockwise starting with the Reader, each traveller takes it in turns to describe what the treasure looks like to them.

  • Then, clockwise again starting with the Reader, each traveller must take it in turns to choose to TAKE THE TREASURE or to PASS BY. If any traveller claims the treasure, stop immediately and click through below.
